I might not be very satisified with The North Face women's hiking boots but definitely recommend their GORE-TEX shoe gaiters . This review of The North Face sportswear is absolutely favorable.
The gaiters aren't particularly cheap - we got them at manufacturer's retail store in Katowice for 200 PLN (about 50 USD). It's not, of course, astronomical price but still quite expensive for shoe gaiters. But they're totally worth the money.
First of all, we wore them many times while hiking in snow and they always performed very well. They're 100% waterproof - not a single snowflake got into our shoes while hiking. I guess it's beacuse of GORE-TEX membrane - thank heavens they used this thin waterproof fabric! They hold on to legs thightly but are comfortable. Also, they are good protection from cold and wind. Last, but not least, they're extremely durable - they already hiked with us many kilometres in deep snow and still they look brand-new.
I guess that one of the biggest advantages of these gaiters is the way they fasten. There's no zip which can diverge or get rusty. The gaiters have velcro. A good broad velcro . It's very solid and adheres well.
Also, the added value of TNF GORE-TEX gaiters is the pair of high-quality leather belts which each gaiter has - one belt at the top and one at the bottom going under the shoe. These are very enduring as well and allow to regulate the breadth.
Advantages:
- solid reliable velcro
- 100% water and windproof
- 2 sets of leather belts
- durable.
Disadvantages:
- none so far.
